Good Nature Hotel, Melbourne: Spark Element Install

When the Good Nature Hotel was being renovated in Melbourne's Federation Square, the venue had one clear goal for its terrace: make it the place to watch the game.

The brief

Nick from Australian Sound and Vision got in touch with us during the renovation. The venue had a large outdoor terrace it wanted to transform into an exceptional space for watching sport, and it needed three 75" screens to make it happen.

Those screens had a lot to handle. They had to live outside full-time, stay easy to watch in daylight and stand up to one of the busiest areas of the venue.

Why we chose the Spark Element

After carefully going through our range and understanding what the venue needed, we landed on the Spark Element Pro 75".

  • 2000-nit brightness: a clear, bright 4K picture for daytime sport, even with sun on the terrace
  • IK10-rated tempered glass: extra protection on the front of the screen, ideal for a high-traffic area like a busy terrace
  • IP control: connects into the venue's AV setup, so the screens can be managed alongside everything else
  • IP55 weather protection and active cooling: built to stay outside all year round

The IK10 glass was a big part of the decision. On a big game day, a terrace is full of people, drinks and movement. The Element is built for exactly that.

The result

The terrace now has three big, bright screens that patrons can see from across the space, from the first bounce to the final siren.

"The Good Nature Hotel terrace is exactly the kind of space the Element was designed for," said Alex for Outdoor TV Australia. "It's busy, it's bright and the screens need to perform every single day."

FAQ

What is the difference between an outdoor TV and a regular TV?

Outdoor TVs are built with weatherproof housings, anti-glare screens and much higher brightness so they stay watchable in daylight and survive rain, humidity and temperature swings that would damage an indoor TV.

Can I leave my outdoor TV outside all year?

Yes. Every model in our range is IP55 rated, built to handle Australian conditions year round without needing to be brought inside.

How do I know if I need a full sun or partial sun TV?

If your screen will face direct sunlight for most of the day, choose full sun. If it sits under a patio roof, pergola or gets only a few hours of direct light, partial sun performs just as well for less.

What size outdoor TV should I get?

It depends on your viewing distance and the size of your space. Larger, open areas suit bigger screens; smaller patios often look best with 55 or 65 inch. Use our Help Me Choose tool for a personalised recommendation, or compare sizes side by side.
